Background / General description:

DEG  Regional  Office  Accra  is  recruiting  an  Investment  Manager  or  Senior  Investment  Manager  for  its  investment department to complement an existing team of professionals in the Regional Office West Africa and to support DEG’s business development and portfolio work in the region especially in the francophone Africa. The focus of the position will be the cooperation with Financial Institutions (commercial banks and non-bank financial institutions) in West Africa. 

Duties and Accountabilities

•  Together  with  the  Regional  Director  and  the  DEG’s  Financial  Institutions  team  at      headquarters  to  identify business  opportunities  and  develop  a  strong  pipeline  of  good  quality  investment  proposals  in  the  Financial Institutions sector in West Africa. 

•  As  a  member  of  DEG’s  Financial  Institutions  team  to  participate  in  the  structuring  and   negotiations  of transactions;

•  Together  with  DEG’s  transactions  teams  transaction  processing  and  presenting  of  new  transactions  to  the Investment Committee;

•  Close  coordination,  preparation  and  follow  up  on  due  diligence  and  other  missions  with  DEG’s  social, environmental and/or sector specialists;

•  Develop a thorough understanding of the Financial Institutions sector in West Africa, provide market intelligence and knowledge;

         •  Maintain project database, undertaking inquiries in database and      preparing presentations.

Selection Criteria

• A master degree in finance or business or equivalent professional qualification;
• A minimum of 5 years relevant professional experience with a track record in processing quality financial investments (debt and equity);
• Profound experience in analyzing Financial Institutions would be of significant advantage;
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills in French and English;
• Strong “deal sense” based on demonstrated credit and analytical skills and sound business judgment;
• Strong sense of service to clients and demonstrated business development aptitude;
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build trust, openness to feedback and new ideas;
• Ability to work in a multicultural, multidisciplinary team and deliver high quality work within deadlines to meet team objectives;
• Genuine commitment to sustainable development;
• Willingness to frequent travel in West Africa and to work for an appropriate time at DEG’s headquarter in Germany.
