CONTEXT

Our clients are jointly setting a new company in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire, to build a mobile money payment interoperability scheme in Africa. This scheme will rely on a technical platform that will facilitate interoperable payments and transfer between mobile money accounts from different mobile money operators (Orange, MTN, others). We are now starting to build up the finance team that will manage this platform and its evolution, as well as support operators that will use it – the customers of that new company. This team is to be transferred to the new one as soon as it is set up. This position is located in Abidjan.

MISSION

We are hiring a dynamic, innovative and vision driven Finance Process Manager who will lead the development and implementation of finance processes for the interoperable mobile payments system.

 As the Finance Process Manager, you will play an integral role in ensuring the best processes are in place to ensure that the scheme’s participants are able to settle each other in the required time frame.  Your roles will also include engagement with the partner bank, and ensuring the best processes to enable efficient settlement.

RESPONSABILITIES

In your role as Finance Process Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Align operational targets to business strategy
  • Consider the long term (1-2 years) implications of actions from a broader perspective
  • Consider the impact of the financial reporting process on other areas of the business, as well as the interdependency of units
  • Monitor and enhance operational effectiveness of Financial Reporting unit – define action plans to increase effectiveness and efficiency
  • Drive best practice, continuous improvement and innovation at process and procedure level
  • Put contingency plans in place to ensure deadlines are met
  • Manage resources (people, finances and products), taking local conditions into consideration
  • Ensure effective Banking operations systems and process aligned to corporate service level targets
  • Implementation and management of effective operational Revenue assurance processes
  • Perform operational Finance role – Bank reconciliation, administration,
  • Coordinate, consolidate and test Budget assumptions on behalf of department
  • Understand customer needs and develop and fine-tune systems and reports accordingly
  • Ensure customer needs and requirements are satisfied through appropriate systems / processes / procedures
  • Put contingency plans in place to prevent delays
  • Adopt a proactive approach to prevent problems from arising in the future
  • Initiate change to continually improve all aspects of service delivery
Description du profil du candidat :

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Minimum 3-year Degree in Commerce from university equivalent with 6–10 experience in payments, banking/ financial services industry, and proven ability to build and manage a multi-disciplinary engagement model, with a proven track record in managing financial processes.

 

The preferred candidate should:

  • Have core understanding of financial services transaction management systems, money transfer & payment compliance requirements
  • Demonstrate leadership and ability to foster collaboration/team spirit, effectively communicate and manage a relationships team across multiple time zones
  • Have a good understanding of banking processes including but not limited to settlement and reconciliation
  • Ability to work with ambiguity in the workplace, and develop solutions with multiple inputs
  • Have excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong and trustworthy relationships with stakeholders
  • Demonstrate superior analytical, evaluative and problem-solving abilities, be self-motivated and show a keen eye for detail
  • Highly numerate and comfortable with quantitative analysis
  • Be fluent in English with ability to communicate in French (intermediate level or higher)
  • Ability to travel internationally and work flexible hours as needed
